The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce a $10,000 appropriation to the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance to support the 5-County Arts Fund , which provides seed capital for innovative, community-based arts projects in southeastern Pennsylvania. Montgomery County Commissioner James R. Matthews will present the check to Cultural Alliance President Peggy Amsterdam at the County Commissioners Board Public Meeting on Thursday, June 2 at 9:30am.

The 5-County Arts Fund, managed by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, has invested $219,000 in 74 projects in Montgomery County in the last four years. The $10,000 appropriation from Montgomery County will be disbursed to 5-CAF grantees in designated revitalization areas in the county, ensuring that these dollars go to the neediest communities. The 5-County Arts Fund supports arts projects that enhance the quality of life for County residents and stimulate economic development.

This project is made possible through the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. It is funded by the citizens of Pennsylvania through an annual legislative appropriation, and administered locally by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. Additional support is provided by PECO, An Exelon Company. Some Montgomery County projects are also funded, in part, by an appropriation from Montgomery County.
The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance is a leadership organization of over 300 nonprofit arts and cultural institutions located primarily in the five counties of southeastern Pennsylvania. Its mission is to lead the effort to expand awareness of, participation in and support for arts and culture in the region.
