Philadelphia-The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance has received a $15,000 grant from the Grace Hamill Memorial Fund, Hermann K. Platt Fund, Charles and Caroline Reed Memorial Fund and an Anonymous Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation. The grant will support advocacy, organizing, and planning activities that expand public awareness of the arts, while building the capacity of arts organizations to organize and advocate for themselves. Announcement of the grant was made by R. Andrew Swinney, President of the Foundation.
“The Philadelphia Foundation’s continued support of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance proves its commitment to arts and culture,” said Peggy Amsterdam, president of the Cultural Alliance. “This generous award will allow the Cultural Alliance to continue to provide cultural organizations with the resources needed to fulfill their mission and enrich the communities within Greater Philadelphia.”
As Southeastern Pennsylvania’s primary provider of philanthropic services, The Philadelphia Foundation manages more than 650 charitable funds established by caring families who want to give something back to their community. Revenue generated from these funds provides grants and scholarships to 800 cultural, educational and humanitarian programs, exactly as the donors intend.
The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance is a leadership organization of over 300 nonprofit arts and cultural institutions located primarily in the five counties of southeastern Pennsylvania. Its mission is to lead the effort to expand awareness of, participation in and support for arts and culture in the region.
