Philadelphia, PA - The Cultural Alliance announced today the award of $159,253 to 110 individual artists and community organizations in the five counties of southeastern Pennsylvania through its’ 5-County Arts Fund, a program of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, which is a re-granting initiative of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA), a state agency. Full grantee details below.
The awards support a wide variety of art and cultural programming in the hopes of expanding access to the arts in communities that may have been underserved by state arts funding in the past and increasing opportunities for artists and cultural organizations to work in and serve the communities in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The 5-County Arts Fund received 194 applications this year. Community panels made up of regional artists, administrators, cultural supporters, and citizens reviewed the applications on the basis of community involvement, artistic merit, and project management.
“I’m honored to congratulate the 2007 5-County Arts Fund recipients” said Peggy Amsterdam, President of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. “The 5-County Arts Fund helps ensure that a broad diversity of cultural offerings is available for everyone to enjoy.”

The Cultural Alliance is PCA’s partner in the Philadelphia area. The program enables PCA to reach a wider audience by increasing access to funds for organizations and artists across the state, thereby increasing statewide audience exposure to arts activities.
The 5-County Arts Fund is a Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts program, supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA). The 5-County Arts Fund is also supported by PECO, An Exelon Company. Some Montgomery County projects are also funded, in part, by an appropriation from Montgomery County.
