Join the Cultural Alliance in Washington
Every year, the Cultural Alliance joins other organizations from all across the country on Capitol Hill for Americans for the Arts's National Arts Advocacy Summit - or, as those in the arts sector call it - National Arts Advocacy Day.
The summit, which takes place from April 12-13 this year, is a national event that brings together cultural and civic organizations, along with hundreds of grassroots advocates, to underscore the importance of developing strong public policies and appropriating increased public funding for the arts.
There are several ways to get involved this year!
Register: Visit the Americans for the Arts website (http://www.artsusa.org/events/2010/aad/default.asp) to register, view the summit agenda, and find information on lodging and travel.
Apply for a scholarship: The Cultural Alliance is offering the Otis Morse Advocacy Scholarship to an individual affiliated with the arts for the purpose of participating in National Arts Advocacy Day. This year's application is available online at http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey-intro.zgi?p=WEB228PMX36M9X The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 26, 2010.
Sponsor an emerging arts advocate: Support the development of emerging arts advocates by contributing to the Otis Morse Advocacy Scholarship Fund. Over the past five years, the scholarship has supported eleven individuals in meeting with their elected officials and making the case for federal support of arts and culture. A gift of any amount makes a difference!
