New Hope
Key ABCD activities:
- New Hope Arts (NHA), a seven-year old local service organization has created partnerships with residents, area businesses, the borough council and local artists that have resulted in a renewed sense of community
- New Hope Arts has hosted the an annual outdoor sculpture competition and exhibition. The group also sponsors numerous indoor exhibitions and several community festivals each year
- NHA has established a community arts center in a building recently purchased by local developer, Tom Scannapieco. Scannapieco has agreed to deed the second floor of the building to New Hope Arts provided that they raise the funds needed to renovate the space.
Background:
New Hope, a small borough on the Delaware River in Bucks County, was incorporated in 1837 and prospered for many years a transportation hub on the Delaware Canal and home to a variety of mills. Today the village of historic buildings is a successful tourist destination. Known for its arts and antiques, New Hope is the most-visited tourist destination in Bucks County.
