Background:
The Borough of Pottstown, on the Schuylkill River in northern Montgomery County, was known from the early 1700s to the mid 1900s, for its extensive metal industries.  Pottstown foundries provided steel and iron for projects including the Panama Canal and the Golden Gate Bridge.  But like many industrial towns, Pottstown suffered as hometown industries shrank or closed.  Today Pottstown has 22,000 residents.
