Philadelphia Cultural Fund Receives $1.3 Million Budget Increase

Plans Include Reinstating Youth Arts Enrichment Grants for Philly Students

PHILADELPHIA—June 20, 2014—Philadelphia's arts and cultural sector can officially claim a win on the FY2015 budget for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. On June 19, City Council approved an amended FY2015 city budget that includes a $1.3 million increase for PCF grantmaking, bringing its budget for grantmaking to $2.9 million and its total budget to $3.14 million. Mayor Nutter is expected to sign the budget into law within the next two weeks.

The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage Announces 2014 Grants

On June 16, the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage announced its 2014 grants to Philadelphia arts and culture organizations. The list includes 12 new Pew Fellowships of $60,000 each, 35 Project Grants in amounts up to $300,000, and two Advancement Grants of $500,000 each.

Arts Organizations Share $1 Million from PNC Arts Alive

Access to simulcast opera, ballet and theater performances, holiday events, and 30-second video art installations in city taxis are among the plans of 21 arts organizations and four service partners receiving grants totaling $1 million from the PNC Foundation through PNC Arts Alive. For the sixth straight year, PNC will contribute $1 million to arts groups large and small in its Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region. The grants cover a wide range of disciplines, audiences and participatory experiences.
