New Members: June 2016 Edition

As we prepare to close out our most successful membership year to date, the Cultural Alliance would like to introduce you to our newest members: ARTZ Philadelphia, Birds On A Wire Dance Theatre, and Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel University!

ARTZ Philadelphia launched in July of 2013 as the first mid-Atlantic affiliate of ARTZ: Artists for Alzheimers, a not-for-profit organization created in the Boston area in 2002 to connect people living with dementia and their families with meaningful, interactive cultural experiences. Their purpose is to provide opportunities for self-expression and for the rebuilding of self-esteem and dignity to people with memory loss and those who care for them. They achieve this mission through research-based programs that connect people living with dementia and their care partners with artists and cultural organizations in creative community.

Birds On A Wire Dance Theatre was founded in 2013. It is an entirely volunteer run company that unwraps and dissects palpable female experiences and presents them in thoughtful, curious productions. They believe that dance is intrinsically - that is, by its very nature - accessible and because of this, they consider artist-audience dialogue an integral part of the creation of new and relevant danceworks. They seek to cultivate an engaged audience and to create meaningful connections between audience and performer.

Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel University, founded in 2012, fosters informed civic engagement while creating, analyzing, assessing, and disseminating pioneering solutions for urban issues around the globe. The Lindy Institute provides a centralized, multidisciplinary hub for Drexel and its partners to incubate and launch innovative, effective, community initiatives that build regional economic strength while promoting experiential learning, public service, and scholarly work by students, faculty, and professional staff.
