Attendance at this event is limited to Future Leadership Fellows.
Leaders spend most of their time trying to influence others – their staff, their colleagues, their board and their funders. But, how do you get results from people with different work styles? How do you create messages that move people to action? How do you use your network to advance your influence… all while avoiding dysfunctional politics? Presented by National Arts Strategies (NAS), this session will give you the tools to use power and influence to advance your personal goals, the goals of your organization, and the goals of your community. You will also develop a personal action plan that will help you immediately implement the tools you learn in a practical way. By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Use your personal communication style as an asset to help influence others
- Choose which influence strategies are likely to gain the support of others
- Recognize influence strategies that are not in your best interests
- Develop and leverage your personal and professional networks
This engaging session will be led by Professor Paula J. Caproni of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, an expert in leadership and management strategies. Professor Caproni uses self-assessments and classroom exercises to create an interactive and experiential learning experience. Fellows can expect the classroom experience they would find in an executive-level session at any of the country’s top business schools.
