Emerging Leaders Discuss Philanthropy with Leslie Anne Miller and Barbara Aronson

On June 9, 24 members of the Emerging Leaders Circle (ELC) and the Young Friends Group of the Philadelphia Art Museum gathered at the Perelman Building of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for An Exclusive Conversation with Leslie Anne Miller and Barbara Aronson. ELC member, Sipi Gupta, moderated the discussion.

Leslie, Chair of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees and Barbara, Campaign Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s It Starts Here campaign engaged in a lively discussion of their organic transitions into philanthropy and how those who support the arts and culture sector in any capacity should consider themselves philanthropists. They also discussed the difficulties facing the sector and how “it’s important, now more than ever,” to support arts and culture.

Events like the Exclusive Conversation are indicative of the opportunities made possible by membership in the Emerging Leaders Circle. The Emerging Leaders Circle of the Cultural Cabinet is the next generation of leaders and philanthropists for the arts and cultural sector. Members are interested in expanding their professional networks and deepening their civic engagement.

This group comes from diverse backgrounds - nonprofit arts and culture, corporate, legal, and government - and will soon assume top-level positions in their respective industries. Benefits of ELC membership include opportunities to network with members of the Cultural Cabinet and invitations to exclusive events.
