Recapping "DNC: What It Means for You" Convening - How Arts & Culture Can Get Involved

On Wednesday, December 9 the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance hosted "DNC: What It Means for You" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The session was led by the Angela Val, Democratic National Convention Host Committee Deputy Executive Director; and Nina Ozlu Tunceli, the Americans for the Arts Chief Counsel of Government & Public Affairs and Director of American for the Arts Action Fund.

Angela Val shared expectations on the impact the convention will have on the city as well as logistical information about transportation, volunteers, and most importantly, how members of the arts and cultural community can be involved.

Key takeaways include:

  • An estimated $250 - $300 million economic impact on the city
  • An estimated 35,000 to 50,000 participants, which includes 15,000 members of the media and 6,000 delegates
  • Recruitment of 10,000 volunteers, which, for the first time includes volunteers as young as 14.  Click here to learn more about volunteer opportunities
  • Activities will be centralized around the Philadelphia Convention Center and the Wells Fargo Center
  • A Vendor Directory will be used by event organizers prior to the convention to plan their various events and parties.  You can include your services in the vendor directory by filling out the Vendor Form and learn more about becoming a vendor here.

The Host Committee has built a comprehensive website where you will be able to find valuable information about the convention.  To view Angela Val's presentation click here.

The Cultural Alliance will keep the community updated on additional convenings and important dates as they relate to the 2016 DNC.
