Help PCCY Take 'School Play' on the RoadPublic Citizens for Children & Youth works to improve the lives of our region's children by developing initiatives and advocating for quality health care, child care, public education and family stability. School Play brings education funding issues to light and is sparking a must-needed dialogue. Why It Matters: Present School Play Yourself! “School Play belongs to everyone. You do not need sets, costumes or lighting to tell the critical story of the state of our schools and a child’s desire to have basic resources to help them succeed,” said Donna Cooper, executive director of PCCY. “We want everyone from Philadelphia to Erie to Scranton to Johnstown to pick up a script and hold their own School Play in their communities so more people can become aware of how funding cuts hurt our children.” The Cultural Alliance's GroundSwell initiative is partnering with PCCY to promote School Play in Southeastern Pennsylvania. School Play is a theatre piece aimed at raising awareness about the urgency of addressing Pennsylvania's public education system. GroundSwell is partnering with PCCY to help them meet their goal of having performances in each of Pennsylvania's 67 counties during the state budget process this spring. The piece can be performed in whole or in part, by community groups, professional troupes, friends, neighbors, and anyone in between. |
