Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance

Today is the Day! GroundSwell Presents: A Community Engagement Forum

In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance’s invites you to attend GroundSwell Presents: A Community Engagement Forum on Thursday, January 22, at Christ Church Neighborhood House (20 N. American Street) from 3:00 – 6:30PM to highlight the work that cultural organizations are doing in communities across the region.

GroundSwell is defined by great artistic and creative work at play in Philadelphia, arts and culture is leading the way in a re-envisioning of the city, so what better time to highlight the significance of the sector to our communities?

We’re bringing together large and small cultural organizations to continue the conversation on the importance of community engagement and how arts and cultural organizations can effectively connect with their communities. The forum will commence with a keynote address from Dr. Arthur C. Evans, Jr, PhD., Philadelphia’s Behavioral Health Commissioner, who has experienced firsthand the power that arts organizations can have on individual residents. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion made up of leaders in the arts and culture sector. The discussion will be moderated by Executive Producing Director of Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Glen Knapp.

Following the panel discussion there will be a talk-back where attendees will have the opportunity to share stories of arts in culture in your communities and to ask the panelists questions about the process of creating engagement programs. Connect with a wide array of creative professionals during our cocktail reception, where there will be workshops led by Philadelphia Young Playwrights and the Mural Arts Program.

We look forward to bringing you a forum that shows the value of arts and culture in our neighborhoods! Register here to join the forum. For more information or if you have any questions, please email getinvolved@philaculture.org or call 215-399-3511.
