COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Ars Nova Workshop

Ars Nova Workshop(ANW) works to to elevate the role of jazz, improvisation, and experimental music in contemporary culture by serving as a facilitator between artists and their audiences in order to inform, inspire and challenge the listeners.

 

Ars Nova Workshop (ANW) acts as a facilitator between artists and their audiences, while working to inform, inspire and challenge listeners in order to elevate the role of jazz, improvisation and experimental music in contemporary culture.

Founded in 2000, Ars Nova Workshop has programmed nearly 600 unique events in diverse settings, many located in the underserved area of West Philadelphia. Performances have included some of the most significant contributors to jazz and experimental music over the past 50 years such as Cecil Taylor, Pauline Oliveros, Tony Conrad, Merzbow, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Bill Dixon, Fennesz and Anthony Braxton.  

Experince ANW yourself, tonight ANW will host the Philadelphia premiere of John Zorn’s Psychomagia. Zorn will perform a complex new suite of music ranging from some of the most intense ritualistic sounds you are likely to hear to tender minimalistic odes. Tickets can be purchased here
