GroundSwell Guide to Honoring Veterans DayIn honor of Veterans Day we have compiled a list of arts related activities happening around the city that celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. Check out some of the events around the city in observance of Veterans Day.
National Constitution Center Salute veterans and active military with a variety of programming today. The day will include live interviews with veterans and interactive civic education programs. At activity stations, guests can write thank-you letters to veterans and make patriotic crafts, including American flags, star wreaths, and poppy pins. Veterans and active military receive free admission. Admission is discounted to $5 for the general public. Click here for more details. Independence Seaport Museum Veterans and active duty military will receive free admission to the Independence Seaport Museum Go back in time and experience Historic Ships from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here for more details. Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial Celebrate a Veterans Day ceremony led by city councilman Mark Squilla. Located at Penn’s Landing at Front and Spruce streets, the memorial honors Philadelphians who served in the Vietnam War. The day-long festivities are sure to have something for all ages. Drexel University, College of Medicine, New College Building Explore The Joe Bonham Project, a collection of more than 40 portraits of wounded Iraq and Afghan War veterans in recovery, making for the perfect homage to the country’s veterans.
