A startup called the PHILO Project provides small nonprofits in the Philadelphia region with consultation, shooting, writing, graphics and editing of professional-quality video for free.

So you’re a small nonprofit with a tight budget and you’ve always wanted a great video. Sure, you can hire “some guy with a camera” - or shoot it on a cellphone. But wouldn’t it be great to have a REAL professionally shot, written and edited video?

Well, now you can.

A startup called the PHILO Project provides small nonprofits in the Philadelphia region with consultation, shooting, writing, graphics and editing of professional-quality video for free.

That’s right: there is no charge (none, nada, zip, zilch, nothing) to the nonprofit organization. The PHILO Project is able to provide this service free of charge because it raises funds to cover its expenses.

The video usually takes the form of a three- to five-minute promotional piece that may be used for fundraising and public media, online awareness, publicity and crowd funding, although PHILO is able to do training videos for organizations with arts education programs that might benefit from having a video available.

Upon completion, the nonprofit organization holds copyright to the finished, edited video and assumes all legal responsibility.

PHILO’s services are for small nonprofits (under $1 million annual budget) only, and organizations must meet certain parameters to qualify. Visit PHILO’s website at www.philoproject.org to learn more.
