Located on a historic 27-acre campus 10 miles north of Center City Philadelphia, the Abington Art Center is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to promoting the visual, performing, and media arts. The AAC has four galleries open year-round which highlight solo and group exhibitions of local and regional artists, a studio school with classes for students of all ages and a Sculpture Garden free and open to the public year-round, along with special community events that offer live musical, theatrical and dance performances.

The Art Center’s classes offer many levels of instruction on painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, jewelry, dance and more; encouraging students from beginners to life-long devotees. Classes run seasonally for a 5-, 6- or 7-week stretch or individually as workshops. Open studio time is available for free to members or to students for an extra fee. Special events include a summer Kid’s Fest, which celebrates the work of young students along with a variety of artistic and recreational activities for kids; the annual Fall Festival, which features an open marketplace for artists to sell their work along with live music and a scavenger hunt in the Sculpture Garden; and a spring event, Art on Tap, which highlights the work of its adult students along with a micro-brew beer tasting.

Abington Art Center has enjoyed the benefits of being an active Cultural Alliance member for many years. "We consider the Cultural Alliance an important contributor to the health and vitality of the arts and cultural community of Philadelphia and its suburbs," says Community Outreach Associate Jonathan Frankenberg.

As Executive Director, Betsy Kilkenny commented, "We are passionate about our mission of enabling people of all ages to participate in the arts at whatever level they choose. Being a member of the Cultural Alliance allows us to engage with the public and our peers. It allows us to be at the forefront of changes and trending mediums in arts and culture. And, it allows us to ensure that the classes, exhibitions, and events we host directly serve our community."
