PHILADANCO WINS 2014 BARTOL FOUNDATION ARTS EDUCATION AWARD

The Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation has selected Philadanco as the winner of the 2014 George Bartol Arts Education Award. This prestigious award is given to an organization that displays meaningful exposure and participation of the arts, and maintains high artistic standards for its faculty and students.

Established in 2001, the George Bartol Arts Education Award grants $5,000 to a non-profit organization to further support its arts education programs. Philadanco has been a staple of high quality dance for over forty years. Celebrated for its innovation and creativity the organization continues to expand, offering a 40-week Dance Instruction Program as well as a 2-month Summer Intensive. It’s these ground-breaking opportunities offered to young people throughout the city that snagged them top honors by the Bartol Foundation.

“We are truly grateful for this award, and we thank the Bartol Foundation for recognizing our programs and all that we do for our youth. Each and every day so many are lost to the streets, and we know that if the arts were in their lives, this would not be the case” says Joan Myers Brown, Founder and Artistic Director of Philadanco.
