This week's Featured Member is Girls Rock Philly!

​Girls Rock Philly is a volunteer-based non-profit music and mentoring organization dedicated to empowering girls and young women from the greater Philadelphia region through music education and activities that foster self-respect, leadership skills, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. 

Targeted areas for Girls Rock Philly include: musical development, self-esteem enhancement, friendship & community building, and nurturing individual talents within a cooperative atmosphere. Additionally, girls benefit from physical & artistic activities that complement their music instruction. Goals for the program include empowerment of girls & women though music and providing the opportunity for all definitions of girls & women to succeed in any venture, whether musical or otherwise.

Girls Rock Philly has been an active Cultural Alliance member since 2009. "We have loved working with the Cultural Alliance over the years!" says Program Director Diane Foglizzo.  "The opportunity to have 4 of our bands play at the STAMP launch party was awesome. The Alliance is a great resource for arts and culture non-profits in Philadelphia. And we appreciate the work that Groundswell has been doing in the effort to restore arts funding in Philadelphia! Thanks for your hard work!"
