Do-Gooder Spotlight: Art Partners Studio

The Do-Gooder Spotlight is GroundSwell's semimonthly blog post spreading the word about individuals and organizations working to better their communities.

Today we are giving a shout-out to our friends at Art Partners Studio!

Art Partners Studio began in the 1990s as a program of the Chester Springs Studio and has worked tirelessly ever since to ensure the citizens of the greater Coatesville region have access to high quality arts educations programs. Art Partners provides the members of its community with the opportunity to "actively participate in artistic experiences that enrich their lives and the life of their community." Art Partners provides a variety of classes to adults, teens, and children (They start their programs for kids as young as 4!). We were so grateful to be joined by Art Partners Studio's Executive Director, Terry Foreman, at our Chester County Arts Advocacy Day Phone Bank this past March, where we learned more about their programming. During the school year (September-June), Art Partners offers a variety of free classes in order to expose students and adults alike to the many benefits of the arts. Art Partners also has a scholarship program for their paid classes and summer camp program to ensure that all of the citizens of the greater Coatesville region can take part in these wonderful classes and workshops.

Art Partners Studio is offering a free Yarn Club this summer that will both add some color to the community while also serving those in need. The Yarn Club will offer basic lessons in crochet and knitting, and participants will help create public art with yarn and help make scarves for those in need. Are you skilled with needles and yarn? Art Partners is also seeking people interested in teaching others during the Yarn Club. If you are unable to attend but would like to help Art Partners beautify the community and help others, they are also accepting in-kind donations of knitting needles and yarn. For more information, email info@artpartnersstudio.org or call 610-384-3030.

Another interesting project from Art Partners is their summer public art project "Moveable Murals." One of the summer classes offered will allow participants to create small mural panels that will be displayed in public spaces throughout Coatesville. In order to expose the communities to the variety of work that will be created, Art Partners plans to rotate the murals throughout the year. The mural making will continue throughout the year, and the summer class is the kickoff effort.
