City Hall Artful Action Day

Join Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) on June 5th as they head to City Hall to express their concern with arts education in the School District of Philadelphia.

 

Some Philadelphians have arts advocacy down to a fine art. On June 5, The Picasso Project will run “Worried About Education: City Hall Artful Action Day.” Andrew Jackson School (1213 S. 12th Street) is offering transportation at 8:30am - if transportation is not needed, attendees can meet fellow advocates at the NE corner Visitors' Entrance of City Hall at 9am. Participants will first offer letters and “worry dolls” to City Council members to express their concern with the current state of arts education. The advocates will then walk to the Governor’s Office, where members of the Jackson, Powel, and Youth Commission will speak after a student performance.

An initiative of Public Citizens for Children and Youth, the Picasso Project offers arts education grants to public schools in Philadelphia and campaigns for government support of the arts.
