Take Action: Visit your state senator and representative!

It takes ten visits to legislative offices a day to make a difference in restoring Pennsylvania's cultural funding!

Have you ever visited your state senator or representative?  There's never been a better time to drop by their office, introduce yourself as a constituent - and make the case for cultural funding!

You don't have to go to Harrisburg - your legislators have district offices which are more than likely in, or close to your community.  You can try to schedule a formal appointment with the legislator or a member of their staff - or simply take some time out of your lunch break to drop by with information on why arts and cultural institutions and organizations are so critical to Southeastern Pennsylvania.

The Cultural Alliance makes it easy for you to master the art of visiting your legislators!

  1. Find your state senator's/representative's contact information by using our handy Legislator Lookup.  The tool will prompt you for your 9-digit zip code - which you can find using the USPS's zip code tool.  Make sure to click on the "State" tab, as the search defaults to the your "Federal" elected officials tab.
  2. Review our Advocacy 101 page for quick tips on when going to visit your legislators.
  3. Bring along a copy of our fact sheet, which you can download below, to provide your legislator with numbers that demonstrate the impact of arts and culture.  If you are visiting your legislator on behalf of your organization, or an organization you simply support, bring along any stories, pictures, brochures, and/or posters.
  4. Once you've made your visits (or have any questions!), please e-mail April Williamson, Community Engagement Manager, at aprilw@philaculture.org.  We want to measure our impact!
