Master Electrician

The Master Electrician, under the direction of the Lighting Designer, implements the lighting design and is directly responsible for the acquisition, installation, and maintenance of all lighting equipment.  The Master Electrician serves as the Head of the Electrics Department and is considered a member of the Theatre Horizon production staff team.  The ideal candidate has experience working with and programming an ETC Ion Board, hiring and managing a crew, working in a team environment, and carefully managing a budget.

We are are looking for someone looking to jump into our team and make Theatre Horizon’s Electrics department their own!

Primary Responsibilities:

Planning and implementing of the cabling (circuiting) of lights and electric power distribution for any given show or production.

Hang and focus of the light plot.

Careful inventory and repair and maintenance of all stage lighting fixtures, cables, effects, power distribution, dimmers, networking and lighting control consoles throughout load-in, the tech process, the run of the show, and strike.

Organization and purchasing of all consumables including gels, gobos, and gaff tape.

Documenting and tracking of all scenery circuiting addressing, and system configuration in cooperation with the Lighting Designer.

Patching and programming the board according to the Lighting Designer’s designs.

Solving any problems or issues with the electrical equipment as it may arise.

Maintain the lighting design throughout the run of the show, including being readily available to assist with any troubleshooting as it arises.

Occupational safety and health of workers and operational decisions as the Head of the Electrics department.

Organize the strike of all electrical equipment and return of all rental equipment in conjunction with the Production Manager and Technical Director.

 

Qualifications:

Previous demonstrated experience as a Master Electrician, or as a theatrical electrician combined with experience managing a crew and implementing a design.

Proven experience successfully managing and staying within a budget.

Programming ability on an ETC Ion.

Status: On Contract for the 2017 – 2018 Season (3 Shows)
Pay: $1,750 + $163 travel stipend (monthly Septa Transpass or gas)/per show
