Summary

Reporting to the Chief Philanthropic Officer, the Senior Business Development Strategist is responsible for continually improving Vanguard Charitable’s (VC) market position and driving financial growth. This position builds key prospect relationships, identifies business opportunities and maintains extensive knowledge of evolving market trends with an emphasis on the financial advisor industry specifically among Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). As the Business Development Group continues to expand, this position will maintain a forward thinking perspective while collaborating with key stakeholders in contributing to the creation of a strategic and operational plan for the team. This position requires excellent project management, multi-level communication and a strong collaborative approach within the team.

Responsibilities

-Collaborate with VC’s Business Development , Philanthropic Services and Marketing teams as well as Vanguard’s Financial Advisor Services (FAS) to identify initiatives with targeted prospects to implement and sustain effective lead generation, communication, training, reporting and referral processes.

-Establish and cultivate the Financial Advisor Channel strategy and plan by:

  • Driving the Business Plan and continuing to refine the target market
  • Planning and managing the budget and expenditures
  • Defining ongoing messaging to the advisor audience by collaborating with Marketing and Vanguard FAS
  •  Maintaining regular communication strategies through a micro-site with channel specific content
  • Leveraging live and virtual educational initiatives to the different channels;
  • Providing regular updates to management and the business on the success of the strategy and plan

-Create and oversee a systematic and robust prospect pipeline while identifying new markets through research of industry and related events, publications, and announcements

-Recommend conference and event strategy in support of business growth initiatives

-Manage designated key 3rd party vendor relationships

Requirements
-Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
-Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Business Development, Sales or a related field
-Significant travel required (30%)
-Demonstrates initiative and strategic thinking to generate creative approaches and solutions
-Excellent client-facing and internal written and verbal communication skills
-Excellent presentation and project management skills
-Demonstrated capability to build and grow professional relationships
-Enthusiasm and confidence to work within a team, independently, and with leadership
-Dependable, articulate, organized, detail-oriented and decisive
-Ability to manage conflicting priorities creatively and cooperatively
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
-Excellent desktop skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
