Manager of Young Heroes Outreach Program

POSITION SUMMARY

The National Liberty Museum’s Manager of Outreach Programs provides leadership, supervision and direction to our exceptional team of outreach staff that provide museum programming in schools and in the community. The candidate for this position will effectively lead the continued development, expansion, and implementation of the NLM’s signature outreach initiative, the Young Heroes Outreach Program (YHOP), currently in residency in over 16 local, regional and national schools.

Young Heroes Outreach Program

  • Manages the continued development and implementation of the Young Heroes Outreach Program (YHOP) at all participating local and regional schools
  • Oversees all orientation, training, and evaluation of YHOP staff
  • Manages all YHOP Educators’ project timelines ensuring that all projects are meeting their appropriate deadlines and standard for quality experiences
  • Directs all YHOP administration including school application & selection process, correspondence with schools, meetings with school staff, outreach scheduling,  written status reports, YHOP follow-up evaluations, Year-end Celebration planning and facilitation
  • Works in conjunction with NLM Development team to prepare program reports as well as steward all program sponsor involvement in YHOP programming and community action projects
  • Assists and supports YHOP team in the facilitation of all YHOP teacher professional development to ensure understanding of “liberty education” pedagogical model as well as programmatic success for all participating schools and students
  • Responsible for oversight of all transportation & outreach vehicle logistics
  • Reviews and analyzes all teacher/group leader evaluations of tours and MLXs to ensure proper tour procedures, content, and educational goals are met; uses analyses to inform museum programming and curriculum
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

 

 

Museum Learning Experience Outreach

 

  • Provides coordination and oversight to all Museum Learning Experience (MLX) Outreach programming
  • Coordinates and directs all MLX Outreach programming, as requested by inquiring schools
  • Spearheads the development of any new NLM activities, materials, and curriculum for Museum Learning Experiences including K-3, 4-8, 9-12grades, camp, and library programs
  • Ensures all new MLX Outreach materials and curriculum are added to NLM website for download by educators and group leaders; routinely updates any materials for edits and extension activity additions

 

 

Outreach Programs Communications

  • Creation and management of all new educational materials posted on the website, and on-going updates of outreach sections of NLM website
  • Acts as the spokesperson for the NLM’s outreach programs as requested - through both conventional and social media
  • Works in conjunction with NLM marketing and creative team to spearhead all outreach programming marketing to generate interest from new schools and audiences
