Development and Executive Coordinator

Summary

Outward Bound is an international educational movement dedicated to the belief that people are capable of far more than they know. Founded in 1992, Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS)’s mission is to change lives through challenge and discovery.  POBS - serving PA, NJ and northern DE - is one of 11 regional Outward Bound USA schools.

A robust non-profit educational organization, POBS annually engages more than 5,000 participants (youth and adults) in experiential single and multi-day programs that inspire character development, leadership and community service. All programs are designed to inspire participants in our communities to realize their true potential.

The Development and Executive Coordinator works as a committed and energizing part of the POBS Advancement team. The position of Development and Executive Coordinator works collaboratively to 1) support the POBS Advancement staff, ensuring tasks are completed to meet and exceed Advancement fundraising goals and 2) support the Executive Director in all POBS, Board of Trustees, and related business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Development:

·     Support the Advancement team, including database management, donation reconciliation and reporting, and execution of constituent strategies.

·     Manage donor gift acknowledgment and stewardship—data entry of gifts, fulfillment of acknowledgement/tax receipt letters/emails, oversight of email contact for newsletters, etc.

·     Support data systems and reporting, including use of donor database (Salesforce) to manage contacts, track progress to goals, process and acknowledge gifts, and recognize donors.  Provide regular reports on progress against the fundraising plan.

·     Support annual fundraising, meetings, and cultivation events.

Executive Support:

·     Manage Executive Director’s schedule, meetings, and outreach.

·     Meeting and event support and coordination.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

·     Supports Executive Director as needed.

·     General Advancement team administrative support.

·     Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

·     1-2 years’ experience in a professional administrative or support role (non-profit preferred).

·     Commitment to producing quality work.

·     Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.

·     Superior technology skills, specifically Microsoft Office products, Salesforce database management, and Google products. Experience with Adobe Suite software is a plus!

·     Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to deadlines.

·     Excellent communications skills (written and oral).

·     Problem solving agility – capacity to anticipate and plan for hiccups as well as the confidence to develop and implement a plan A, B or C when necessary.

·     Sound decision making judgment.

·     Professional-level experience working with a team to organize fundraising events.

·     General confidence with new technology and tools.

·     Familiarity with Salesforce or similar database preferred.

·     Strong personal motivation, initiative, follow through and commitment.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
  • 2 years in a professional non-profit administrative, development, or related position required.
  • Previous Outward Bound experience a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Part time position, 20 hrs a week.
  • Hourly wage is commensurate with experience.
