Seasonal Guest Relations Team Member- 2018

As a part of the Guest Relations team, you will have a key role in our organization and a direct impact on delivering a memorable guest experience to each of our 1.3 million guests. In this role, team members provide guests with information in accordance with the Zoo's mission statement, brand and goals and are capable of exceeding the expectations of the guests by providing friendly, enthusiastic and courteous service. Prior experience at a museum, attraction or a comparable high volume customer service venue and working in a team environment is highly desired. To apply for this position, you must be available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with minimum of two additional weekdays of availability. Schedules will vary depending on business needs from week to week.

Cashiers

Must be able to work cheerfully under a very busy, demanding box office environment.

Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a friendly and welcoming environment that includes proper greeting and acknowledging every guest with a welcoming tone and solid knowledge of products offered.

Must have at least one year of cash-handling experience.

Must have experience in POS systems with moderate to advanced computer skills and ability to type 40 words per minute.

Utilizing a computerized RTP ticketing system, sell Zoo admission tickets to visitors. In addition to regular Zoo admission, this includes redeeming coupons and passes, selling combination tickets, attraction tickets, and other special promotional sales. This position will rotate throughout the Zoo grounds depending on business need for the day.

Provide members with all applicable information on membership policies and programs, and all associated paraphernalia while processing Zoo Membership sales.

Assume responsibility for all funds assigned by the Revenue Control Office, verifying amounts and returning the original fund during the course of day by using an automated cash control machine.

 Plaza/Turnstile Attendants

Greet Zoo guests in a professional, courteous and enthusiastic manner as they enter the Zoo, providing maps and promotional materials to all guests. Operate hand scanners to admit members and guests through access gates.

Serve as the primary point of contact for guest interactions, solving problems, and when appropriate, obtaining management representation to address concerns.

Assist visitors in the understanding of ticket options, explaining not only general admission, but other opportunities throughout the Zoo, including attraction tickets, memberships, city passes, and other sales promotions.

Provide greeter functions to group visitors entering the Zoo including but not limited to: Meeting buses at entrances and making contact with the primary group leader; directing the group leader to the cashier for final payment; directing ticketed groups through the entrance; distributing maps and information to the group chaperones.

Must be able to retain and communicate daily information to all guests while engaging and creating an exceptional guest experience. Must be comfortable dealing with large crowds and following all access control policies and procedures.

Must have outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.

Parking Attendant

As first and last point of contact for our guests visiting the Zoo, attendant will handle all guest interactions in a manner that is welcoming and encourages repeat visits.

Directs cars to the appropriate entry, exit and parking spaces within a parking area. Maintain Zoo signs directing traffic to the closest available lot.

Actively keep each parking lot and its surroundings clean and litter-free. Actively patrol the lot to insure only Zoo guests have access to all parking areas.

Communicate with other parking areas to ensure a seamless parking experience for all Zoo visitors.

Work accurately and cheerfully under pressure.

Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with visitors, supervisors and co-workers.

 Attractions Attendant

Assure the safety of riders on the Zoo’s attractions (Carousel, Swan Boats and Train) by assisting guests in the proper loading and unloading of the rides. Experience in a safety-oriented environment preferred.

Operate and troubleshoot hand scanners to admit members and guests to the rides within the Zoo.

Ability to perform repetitive physical job duties is required for this position, including constant walking, bending down, pushing and pulling boats in all weather conditions.

Maintain thorough knowledge of all ride operational and emergency procedures for the Philadelphia Zoo’s Swan Boats, Carousel and Train rides. Visually monitor the guests at all times while the ride is in motion, assuring compliance to all safety procedures and policies. Respond immediately to correct any unsafe behavior or condition.

Must have excellent customer service skills. Routinely assist guests with questions and concerns.  Answer questions and provide information in a manner that is welcoming and encourages repeat visits and rides; handle complaints and resolve problems in a manner that is helpful, polite, and accurate. Look for opportunities to be helpful to guests and other employees.

Driver’s license is required to drive the Zoo’s Septa PZ Express.

Knowledge/Ability Required

Satisfactory completion of a background check.

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds a distance of 25 feet.

Ability to sit, stand and maintain alertness for long periods of time.

Must be able to work around plants and animals.

Must be able to maintain clean and safe work environment.

Ability to work accurately and cheerfully under pressure.

Pay Rate: $9.00/hour
