Development Assistant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Development Assistant will support the Director of Development and other Development team members in the overall development plan for Pennsylvania Ballet.  Primary focus will be supporting front line fundraisers in prospect management, using our database and other tracking tools.  The Development Assistant will report directly to the Director of Development but will resource other members of the staff on projects as assigned.

TYPICAL WORK ROUTINE INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Primary responsibility for entering prospect research, ratings, inclinations and plans in Tessitura.
  • Using a broad spectrum of sources, assist with the research on the financial capacity of individuals who could be supportive of the Ballet.
  • Assist front-line fundraisers in tracking plans and inclinations of donors and prospects.
  • Assist with special event fundraisers by helping with the tracking of registration, listings and mailings
  • Assist in other areas of the department as needed, such as by gathering information for grant reports and proposals.
  • Provide support to Director of Development as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Successful candidates will have experience working in an office environment and a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. He or she must have superb organizational skills and attention to detail, great proficiency with Excel, excellent verbal communications skills, knowledge and experience working with a database (Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge a plus), competent writing skills, a willingness to collaborate, and a heartfelt appreciation for the performing arts. This position will require discretion with valuable and personal donor details that are often confidential.  In addition, this position will entail working some evening and weekend hours as needed for events.
