Job Title:          Maintenance Art Handler Crew Leader

Department:     Operations

Reports to:       Operations Manager

Status:             Full time

Hours:              M-F 9:00 AM -5:00 PM and occasional weekends & evenings

 

Overview:

Freeman’s is seeking an experienced and motivated person to lead our team of Art Handler Crew Members. You thrive in a fast paced environment and multi-task proficiently. Acting as a working supervisor, you are responsible for the movement and storage of property, exhibition and auction logistics, compliance with SOPs and ensure that all members of Crew are adequately trained to execute their job responsibilities with the highest level of competency. The successful candidate must be able to align day-to- day tasks and assignments to efficiently achieve long term goals and strategies.

 

 

The successful candidate acts as a working supervisor and is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the Auction house, including all movement of property, exhibition and auction logistics, management of crew & maintenance personnel, compliance with SOPs and oversight of building repairs & maintenance.  Ensure that all members of Crew are adequately trained to execute their job responsibilities with the highest level of competency. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

Primary Responsibly:

  • Working closely with the Loading Dock Manager oversees the safe and efficient movement of all property flowing through the loading dock, specialist departments, photography studios and exhibition/sale rooms.
  • Working with the Operations Manager, Specialist, marketing & business development departments create, manage & implement the event, exhibition, and auction set-up schedules.
  • Working closely with the Loading Dock Manager ensures the efficient scheduling and processing of inbound & outbound property.
  • Establish and implement best practices for the manual handling of property, inventory integrity and storage methods.
  • Supervise a full-time crew of 2, and Part-time/ On-call crew as needed, through the timely completion of the department’s responsibilities.
  • Oversee building maintenance, maintenance staff and building repairs.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by Operations Manager.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of Art Handling and/or Warehousing experience and relevant management/supervisor experience.
  • Must be conversant with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Work & Excel. Comfortable learning new software applications as utilized at Freeman’s.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience building a team to make certain productivity and efficiency expectations are met.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position can be physically demanding, requiring bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and overall material handling of heavy boxes, framed art and furniture using the proper lifting/moving techniques.
