Music Teacher - Part-Time - Kaleidoscope Plus Arts Enrichment Program

The Kaleidoscope Plus Arts Enrichment Music Teacher is responsible for the music component of the Kaleidoscope After School Program. The person will be artistic and capable of creating well rounded lessons for young children ages 3 to 9 that will enhance school readiness skills. The person will be able to collaborate with fellow artist teachers and early childhood teachers to create lessons that are derived from the Early Learning Pennsylvania standards. The person will work closely with all teachers and students to ensure continuity amongst all disciplines. This person will also work closely with the Director of Early Childhood Education and After School Coordinator to build upon successful program systems.

Specific responsibilities for this part-time position include:

  • Plan curriculum and monthly concept implementation for music classes consistent with guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice and the Kaleidoscope Arts for Early Childhood Curriculum.
  • Participate in special events and parent meetings as needed.
  • Facilitate and encourage parent communication and parent involvement
  • Participate and contribute to program planning.
  • Communicate to Kaleidoscope Program Director/After School Coordinator all information regarding children's health and welfare.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Early Childhood Director/After School Coordinator necessary to sustaining growth and improvement of all programs included in the Settlement Music School Early Childhood Initiatives.

The Kaleidoscope Plus Music Teacher reports to the Director of Early Childhood Education

Qualifications:

  • MFA or MED in music education preferred, BA in Music required
  • 3+ years teaching experience with preschool aged children and up that includes supervision and classroom management
  • Extensive knowledge in the field of music education
  • Collaborate, plan and execute performances
  • Establish strong working relationships with individuals inside and outside the institution and be an outstanding advocate of Settlement’s mission
