Bloomberg Arts Internship CoordinatorBackground The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance was founded in 1972 and is one of the nation’s best-known and most effective arts service organizations. We operate in five counties surrounding Philadelphia, and also serve southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware as part of our metropolitan region. We have over 450 nonprofit and for-profit members, but the Alliance serves the entire cultural sector – over 1,500 performing arts, visual arts, history, science, horticulture, arts education, community art centers and other cultural organizations. The Bloomberg Arts Internship, a one-of-a-kind program of the Cultural Alliance funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is a citywide arts internship with three key goals: To immerse young people in the world-class arts and culture sector of Philadelphia, to prepare them for the workforce with on-the-job experience, and to provide vital professional development opportunities and college readiness training. For eight weeks, a cohort of fifty students are placed in paid positions at arts and culture organization across the city. In addition, the entire cohort goes on weekly site visits to many of Philadelphia’s most iconic arts and culture institutions. Finally, the cohort attends day-long weekly professional development and college readiness training. Position Summary The internship coordinator will be part of a team focused on implementing this ambitious program. Working with a grant manager, administrative support, and a team of mentors, the internship coordinator will support intern recruitment, placement, and program implementation. The program runs from January through October and has three phases: Planning and recruitment, implementation, and program reporting. This is a seasonal part-time position, averaging 25 hours a week, closer to 40 hours in the direct run up to the start of the program. Work will begin in February and fully wrap by the end of September. Primary Responsibilities
