Creole and/or Spanish Speaking Tour Guides

Are you a Spanish or Creole speaker who is enthusiastic, flexible, and interested in learning about art?  The Delaware Art Museum is presenting a new exhibit, Relational Undercurrents: Contemporary Art of the Caribbean Archipelago, from June 22-Sept. 8, 2019.   We are in need of Spanish Speaking and Haitian Creole Speaking Tour Guides who will help our visitors learn about the artworks in the exhibition and lead conversations around the works of art. Bilingual Guides will provide public tours in Spanish or Creole for adult visitors, and occasionally for student camp groups.   Tours are an hour long and are scheduled on select Sundays, Thursday evenings, and occasional weekday mornings throughout the exhibition.

We will teach the guides about the works of art on view.  Bilingual guides must enjoy learning and feel comfortable speaking with the public, have an interest in art, and be proficient in both English and Spanish or Haitian Creole.  Experience in art, art history, public speaking, or education is helpful, but not required. Interest or knowledge of Caribbean history and/or cultures is helpful.

Guides are required to attend one paid exhibition training session and be available to give tours on at least 4 scheduled dates; availability for additional tours is helpful. Guides are paid $17 per hour with a minimum of 2 hours per tour and $15 per training hour.  All Tour Guides must pass a background check conducted by the Delaware Art Museum.
