Web Designer

This position will be primarily responsible for front-end web content layout and basic design work, including fulfilling website update requests and assisting with interface design. The Web Designer/User Experience & User Interface Designer will bring strong creative, technical, and problem-solving skills to translate concepts into interaction and design solutions. This position will work with members of the Annenberg School’s Office of Communications and IT team to provide design recommendations, layout drafts and final, web pages and other application interfaces.

This is a two-year term position, with the possibility of renewal.

Under the creative direction of the Director of Communications, this position will:

* Create user-centered designs for websites; design visual layouts; generate graphics; build templates according to design guidelines and usability standards.
* Create innovative approaches to improving the end-user experience. Assure web accessibility for people with disabilities.
* Assist in designing interface elements of applications and features.
* Perform various graphic design tasks such as digital asset optimization.
* Work collaboratively with clients and programmers to build, maintain, and update CMS websites using HTML/CSS.
* Participate in determining requirements for new websites and applications.

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree, preferably in Graphic Design, Information Technology, or related fields, and at least one year of relevant experience designing and developing websites or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must be passionate about crafting visual experiences. Demonstrated knowledge of front-end web development and experience with building and maintaining websites required. WordPress and/or other CMS experience required, along with knowledge of design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch. Knowledge of HTML and CSS required. Proven sense of design, with the ability to translate it into digital interfaces; strong typography and layout skills. Strong technical abilities preferred, and/or experience creating websites in tandem with a developer. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
