Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for the entire organization in order to engage new and existing audiences.

Working collaboratively with the Managing Director, they will develop and implement strategies to sell tickets, provide resources for patrons, and increase accessibility to all members of the public.

Compensation for this position is $15/hour, with an expectation of 10 hours per week. Work will be completed remotely, with occasional in-person meetings and weekend / evening events. 

There is opportunity for significantly increased hours leading up to the Media Film Festival each April. Produced by the Media Arts Council,  the Media Film Festival is a 3-day international film festival that screens over 50 short films and hosts special events, Q&A’s, and industry guests.  

This is an independent contractor position and is partially funded by a two-year grant.

Marketing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Public relations: cultivate and maintain relationships with local PR outlets, planning well in advance of events, and placing known events immediately.
  • Social media: manage Media Arts Council’s social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to promote events, artist opportunities, and other items of relevance and interest. Average – 17 posts/month
  • Website management: create and upload website content, design graphics for website posts, links to external websites  (WordPress platform)
  • Events and Programs: assist with the coordination and marketing and with the fulfillment of MAC sponsorship benefits and promotions
  • Email marketing:  design and execute e-blasts through Constant Contact
  • Graphic design: event flyers; programming calendar; website/social media graphics (when not provided)
  • Press: liaise with local press contacts to promote events
  • Direct mail: oversee the management of direct mail marketing pieces
  • Budget: develop and manage the annual marketing budget
  • Events: attend special events and programs as needed

Responsibilities Pertaining to the Annual Media Film Festival:

Pre-Festival:

  • Assisting in the organization and promotion of all Festival Events
    • Social media
    • Assist website manager
    • Assist with the fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and promotions
    • Email marketing
    • Graphic design
    • Press
  • Maintaining and monitor timeline
  • Oversee construction and needs for Festival Gift Bags
  • Attending committee meetings as necessary
  • Assisting in the proofing of Festival Program Guide
  • Additional responsibilities as needed
  • Festival:
  • Continue to promote festival
  • Liaise with filmmakers and guests
  • Act as in-theater support as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong phone and writing skills and be an enthusiastic self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision. Preferred candidates will have an academic background or professional experience in marketing community arts organizations and/or festivals
