Teaching Assistant - Claymobile
The Clay Studio’s Claymobile program is looking for teaching assistant to join the team. The Clay Studio is rooted in the belief that all people deserve access to high quality arts learning opportunities, and assumes a strong responsibility to engage all segments of its local community. Since 1994, our mobile community engagement program, the Claymobile, has collaborated with schools, community-based organizations, and other social service agencies throughout Philadelphia to create innovative, hands-on approaches to learning that integrate the arts into their curriculum and programs. For more information about the program visit: http://www.theclaystudio.org/claymobile Teaching Assistant - About the Position: The Claymobile Teaching Assistant is responsible for assisting the Claymobile Teaching Artist during a Claymobile residency, workshop, or event. Duties include gathering and loading supplies for the class into the Claymobile van, organizing supplies while at the school, instructing and aiding students, and cleaning up/loading supplies back into the van at the end of class. A qualified candidate will be comfortable teaching students of all ages from a variety of social classes and cultural backgrounds, they will be knowledgeable in the arts and have an interest in education. Experience with teaching or with ceramics is a plus. We are especially interested in candidates with Spanish fluency. This position is part-time: In general, Claymobile residencies run from 6 to 12 weeks. Generally, the Claymobile Teaching Assistant is paid 3 hours per class. Compensation is $12/hr.
