Program and Communications Coordinator

Intercultural Journeys seeks a part-time Program and Communications Coordinator to provide general programmatic, administrative, marketing, and communications support. Program support includes working on and with mainstage performances, community engagement events, and educational events, while marketing and communications support involves outreach, social media, and other communications projects. While most of the work of the position can be completed remotely, the coordinator is required to meet in person with staff between 2-4 times per month, and to be present for occasional events held on the weekend or weeknight evenings (usually 1-2 weekend or evening events per month). All required concert or event dates will be communicated 6-8 weeks (or further) in advance. This is a part-time, hourly position with compensation set at $17/hour, and an expectation of 8-10 hours per week. The coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

Duties

Program and Administration:

  • Work as house manager during concerts and events
  • Work with and supervise volunteers during IJ events
  • Assist with artist hospitality
  • Oversee post-concert surveys and data collection, and report on trends
  • Gather material for and create certain pieces of concert- and event- related materials, including programs, one pagers, and/or other handouts
  • Conduct program-related research (artist research, genre research)
  • Assist with logistics of educational and community engagement programs, as necessary
  • Provide additional administrative support, as needed

Communications and Marketing:

  • With the executive director, set institutional and show-based communications and marketing strategies 
  • Write engaging communications and marketing copy in line with strategic communications plan to be posted across digital platforms, including social media, email, and web
  • Research and reach out to community groups and organizations
  • Post event content to cultural and interest-specific calendars

Qualifications

  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy, and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, including proven writing and editing ability, and experience working across multiple communications platforms
  • Excellent judgement coupled with enthusiasm for communicating with online communities
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultural viewpoints and to using appropriate language and imagery to reflect those viewpoints
  • Experience coordinating, assisting, or working on events
  • Professional demeanor and attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated problem solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail
  • Reliability and ability to meet deadlines
  • Interest in the arts and/or world cultures

Education/Experience

1-3 years working in a position that you feel prepared you for tasks like the ones listed above. Work experience can include paid experience, internships, volunteer work, or other work that you find qualifying.
