Spanish/English Bi-Lingual CEF Program Assistant 20 hrs/wkThe Community Engagement & Family Program Assistant is a 20hr/week part-time position, working during the Monday-Friday work week, with evening and weekend community events typically 1-2 times per month. This position supports the development and facilitation of learning opportunities, deep engagement, and expanded access to learning experiences at the Barnes Foundation for diverse multi-generational audiences—primarily serving Philadelphia communities and populations that are under-represented and underserved. Under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement & Family Programs, the Assistant is part of a CEF team that generates meaningful interactions through informal workshops and classes; community-based events; family skills building; and Barnes gallery visits. Our goal is to make the Barnes resources and collection relevant and personally meaningful. This position helps to implement programming off-site within Philadelphia communities (primarily West Philadelphia and South Philadelphia), on-site at the Barnes on the Parkway, and in virtual format. Qualified candidates should be able to deliver art-making lessons and art gallery tours in English and Spanish, once given training about the art collection. Function may include direct instruction, occasional tours and relationship-building, recruitment/training of volunteers, special projects, admin/logistical support, and others to be defined. The Assistant collaborates inter-departmentally including Education, Guest Protection, Facilities, Curatorial, Marketing, Events, and Conservation. Established as an educational institution, the Barnes Foundation carries out its mission by promoting appreciation of the arts and horticultural science, through the preservation, presentation, and interpretation of the collections of Albert C. and Laura L. Barnes.
