Japanese Language Instructors 日本語教師募集

 

The Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia seeks Japanese Language Instructors for its Japanese Classroom. This is a contract position which will receive a 1099 tax form at year end for filing purposes. The successful applicant must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to provide all required documentation.

JASGP is a private nonprofit organization that connects Japan and Philadelphia through: operating and preserving Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, which hosts over 45,000 visitors each year; producing the Cherry Blossom Festival with up to 15,000 attendees; presenting a US-Japan Business and Public Policy Series; and providing Japanese arts, business, and cultural programming for all ages.

Responsibilities: 仕事内容

Using the Japan Times’ “Genki: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese,” instructors will have great leeway in lesson planning and out of class assignments. Class meetings will be weekly 90 minute evening sessions for ten consecutive weeks. The classes are currently being held over Zoom, with the possibility of returning to in person lessons at some point in the future. Depending on availability, instructors should expect to teach one class per semester, mostly in the 100 level range. Class size is set to be no more than 12 students at this time. 

 

Payment: 支払い

Instructors will be paid $500 per class. An additional $100 will be paid for classes of 7 students or more, and another $100 for classes of 9 students or more. The potential payment total is up to $700 per class.
