Lead Teacher for the Saturday Youth Art Class (Portside Arts Center @Cherry Street Pier)

Portside Arts Center seeks Lead Teachers for our Children’s Saturday Art class at Cherry Street Pier.

Portside Arts Center is a 501c3 nonprofit community art center located in the Port Richmond/Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We provide a creative and nurturing environment that empowers the artists of tomorrow and creates lifelong patrons of the arts. Through dynamic visual arts programming, we encourage students to be globally-minded citizens and fearless artists.

The Saturday Youth Art Class is a visual arts program for children between the ages of 4-10. The program will run most Saturdays during the school year from 3PM to 5PM.

The class is designed to be a fun and creative weekend activity for kids that also allows them to expand their artistic skill sets and investigate their individuality and unique identities. Students are introduced to local and international artists while exploring different art materials and techniques.

We are currently seeking arts instructors for this program who have experience and enjoy working with children and are experts in a variety of artistic media.

Instructors are responsible for creating their own visual art curriculum within the parameters of the Saturday Youth Art Class overall program curriculum.

Ideal candidates will be organized and responsible with an easy going attitude and ability to develop a strong rapport with children. They will also have a passion for the arts and demonstrated knowledge of artistic concepts and practices.
