Front of House Manager

The Front of House Managers of the Colonial Theatre are supervised by the Director of Operations.

Primary Function:

The Front-of-House Manager is responsible for the management and day-to-day activities of the Colonial Theatre. These duties include (but not limited to) customer service, motion picture presentation, staff and volunteer management, public relations, theatre maintenance, money handling/security and record keeping. This person should be hard working and detail-orientated and can troubleshoot issues when they arise. The Front of House Manager can expect to regularly move items up to 35 lbs. and frequently ascend and descend ladders and stairs.

Specific Duties:

The Front of House Manager is responsible for the overall well-being of the Colonial Theatre and the patrons of the Colonial Theatre. The Front-of-House Manager is responsible for the following duties:

1)  The quality presentation of film and the maintenance and upkeep of the film and sound equipment. This includes building up, breaking down and previewing all films shown at the theatre.

2)   It is the job of the Front of House Manager to ensure that staff and volunteers treat patrons with courtesy and respect and with prompt and effective service. Must be willing and able to cover any staff position (box office, usher, or concession) in the case of staff/volunteer absences or short staffing.

3)  The overall maintenance of the Colonial Theatre, including:

                a)   Ensuring that the theatre is always impeccably clean and orderly, including cleaning up food, spills, and trash from the auditorium and elsewhere before, between and after show, as well as keeping lobby, bathroom, sidewalks, and all other areas clean, orderly, and safe.

                b)   Maintaining, stocking, and operating the concession stand with the help of the Concession Manager.

                c)   Stocking and maintaining general theatre supplies – informing the Director of Operations if supplies need to be ordered.

                d)   Operating and maintaining all other equipment and systems at the theatre.

4)   Overseeing ticket sales and concession sales, managing that money and making deposits. Also, performing all necessary and designated record keeping and bookkeeping duties.

5)   Reporting to the Director of Operations.

                a)  To report on a routine basis to the Director of Operations, especially any problems or irregularities with the operation of the theatre.

                b)  To undertake and complete such tasks, duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Operations.
