Position Summary   

The National Liberty Museum (NLM) is seeking a full-time Museum Educator. This role is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in teaching the core concepts of liberty through the development of curriculum, projects, and educational resources connected to the Museum’s exhibitions. As part of the Education and Civic Learning Team, this position contributes to the development and delivery of education and public programs for the Museum’s student and educator audience. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about working collaboratively to support how museum concepts are taught in the museum, the classroom, and wherever learning happens.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of curriculum and educational resources connected to the Museum’s exhibitions, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of School Programs.
  • Support the planning and delivery of educational programs, including field trips, educator open houses, and teacher professional development.
  • Assist with administration and communications related to NLM’s educational resources and learning opportunities.
  • Manage documentation, attendance tracking, and participant evaluations; prepare reports for management.
  • Coordinate logistics for on-site school programs (staffing, run of show, supplies, and resources).
  • Represent school programs in cross-departmental collaboration to ensure alignment with exhibitions and public programs.
  • Lead tours for school groups and facilitate activities during public programs and events, as assigned.
  • Maintain strong relationships with teachers, including virtual or in-person classroom visits as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Successful Candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in formal and/or informal learning environments, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Experience writing curriculum and educational materials.
  • Familiarity with K-12 curriculum, national and state education standards, inquiry-led learning, and project-based learning
  • Interest in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary civic learning
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and public speaking).
  • Proven ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities across departments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage respectfully with diverse audiences.
