Manager of Learning and Interpretation

Key Responsibilities

The Manager of Learning and Interpretation will work in close collaboration with the Art and Learning Department, the Manager of Learning and Interpretation will:

Create, plan, and implement public programs for visitors of all ages.

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of public programming including contracting performers and speakers, coordinating travel, handling facility and a/v needs, coordinating program evaluation, and supporting grant requests.

Lead vision development for gallery interpretation including didactics, written materials, and technology.

Form partnerships and collaborate with community and cultural organizations in alignment with shared learning goals.

Serve as primary contact for educational programming and interpretation partners.

Manage the School and Tour Coordinator.

Manage Museum Educators and grant-funded Gallery Learning Assistant including development of gallery learning curriculum and training opportunities.

Collaborate with Art and Learning team to develop collection and special exhibition programming and interpretation strategies.

Collaborate with Museum’s Advancement team across fundraising efforts including grant opportunities, program sponsors, and other cultivation activities.

Develop and maintain budget lines for educational programs and gallery interpretation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, Art History, Museum Studies, or related field required.

Experience in conception, planning, and teaching of subject-related programs for audiences of all ages.

Knowledge of youth, adult, and family learning and museum education theory and practice.

Commitment to collaborative approaches to partnerships within and outside the Museum.

Superior written and interpersonal communication skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Skilled in MS Windows and MS Office products and collection software.

Strong organizational skills including effective time management, ability to set and fulfill priorities, and demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-tasking, fast paced environment.

Highly motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Ability to handle confidential materials with discretion.

Compensation and Benefits

Our salary range is $53,000-55,000K. We offer a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, 403(b) plan, paid time off, employee discounts and free parking.

The Delaware Art Museum is seeking a Manager of Learning and Interpretation who is responsible for management of gallery learning and interpretation including creating, planning, and implementing a broad range of programs that draw on the power of art to improve the lives of all in Delaware as well as developing and coordinating strategies that support learning in the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions. This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Head Curator.
