Collections Management Fellowship 1 Year TermWorking under the supervision of the Collections Manager and Registrar as part of the Museum’s Collections and Exhibitions team, the Collections Management Fellow is a temporary, one-year, full-time position to assist with exporting collections records to the Museum’s new CMS database from the Museum’s previous database. The position will work to make database records consistent, following the Museum’s database style guide. The Collections Management Fellow will also enhance the Museum’s digital object files. Primary Responsibilities: Works to resolve issues in collections records in preparation for and after the database conversion. Follows the Museum’s database style guide to update and build out more accurate object records in the database. Maintains list of records that will need to be updated to confirm with the Museum’s database style guide. Scans object files and adds to digital object files. Assists with periodic inventories of the collections and updating locations in the Museum’s CMS. Assist in the basic maintenance of exhibit spaces, both in the core galleries and special exhibitions. Assist in the regular cleaning and maintenance of collections spaces, including regular pest management. Other duties as assigned. Education: Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate (in the last 5 years) of, a Master’s degree program in museum studies, library science, material culture, or related field. Experience/Skills: Exceptional attention to detail. Experience with collections databases, collections management, and/or museum registration. Effective organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, and follow through on all assignments with minimal direction, and ability to both work independently and as a member of a team. Flexible and collegial. Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of and experience with best practices in museum collections care and object handling. Ability to lift 30 lbs., climb ladders and use basic tools. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Interest in early American history and the American Revolution a plus. Maintains confidentiality. Hours per week: 37.5 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work. Salary is $45,000 |
