Position: Director of Residence Life and Conduct
Reports to: Assistant Vice President for Student Services

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides vision and leadership to residence life, student conduct, housing, and residential programming.
  • Directly trains, supervises and evaluates the Housing Coordinator, the Area Coordinators, and 1-2 graduate students.
  • Oversees housing and meal plan assignment processes, including incoming student placement, housing selection, and room change process.
  • Maintains accurate housing and meal plan records in StarRez, Colleague, and Blackboard.
  • Coordinates facility management, including room inventories, work orders, billing, and the opening and closing of residence halls.
  • Serves as the Student Affairs liaison to the Facilities Department.
  • Oversees student staff selection, training, evaluation, and program delivery in the residence halls.
  • Coordinates the staff selection, training, residential and programming component of the Pre‐College Summer Institute.
  • Coordinates the annual RA banquet and Student Leadership Awards Ceremony.
  • Manages departmental budgets and develop proposals for new initiatives.
  • Assists in planning, assessment, and budgeting processes as dictated by the University.
  • Investigates and responds accordingly to all reported violations of the Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the student handbook.
  • Tracks all written incident reports to ensure appropriate reporting and compliance.
  • Schedules and conducts hearings as required.
  • Chairs Campus Standards Board hearings as outlined in the student handbook and when required.
  • Responds to critical issues in the residence halls including roommate disputes and disciplinary concerns.
  • Conducts regular educational opportunities for students.
  • Processes all Academic Integrity cases and serves on the University CARE Team.
  • Assists in the coordination of the Annual Campus Crime Statistics Report (Clery)
  • Co-leads recruitment, selection, and training of student advisors, Campus Standard Board panel members, and faculty/staff advisors.
  • Responsible for updates and revisions to the Student Handbook and the Residential Guide to Living.
  • Manages a residential community 600+ students with a team of 2 Area Coordinators, 2 Graduate Assistants, 29 Resident Assistants and the Housing Coordinator.
  • Works with Continuing Studies during the summer to manage the Pre-College Summer Institute housing population.
  • Maintains UArts webpages for their functional areas.
  • Serves in the On-Duty rotation at the Administrator on Call level.
  • Serves as Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, or similar area.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in residence life, student conduct, and/or activities.
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills and be comfortable working within a prescribed student code of conduct, adjudicating cases, following up on all reported infractions, and the ability to provide direction to a residential community of 600+ students.
  • Must be able to manage an organization and multi‐task, be competent with data, projections and databases, and be able to provide vision and goal setting to the organization.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience at an urban, private college or university.

Education Level: 
Minimum Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, or similar area with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in residence life, student conduct, and/or activities
