Darlington Arts Center (DAC) was founded in 1978 with the unique vision of including all four arts disciplines–music, visual arts, dance, and drama– in one space with an emphasis on multi-disciplinary programming. DAC has served the Delaware and Chester counties and Delaware State communities for over 40 years by fostering programs that provide possibilities and opportunities through the exploration of multi-disciplinary arts. DAC is committed to building, preserving and growing with the community we serve and the community of teaching artists. Darlington has robust on-site programs, services the community-at-large with special events and programs through our Creative Community Partnerships, and provides free programming through our Arts Education Outreach Program. Darlington Arts Center (DAC) seeks a Program Associate who will be responsible for coordinating our offsite programs, building new partnership opportunities to expand various initiatives, and providing support for onsite programs located at 977 Shavertown Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060.
Our Academic School Year is from September 2024-June 2025 and our summer program is from June 2025- August 2025.
We are looking to fulfill the position by October 31, 2024.
The Program Associate will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to assist in managing both on and off site programming. This position directly reports to the Executive Director. This candidate should be someone who is collaborative, creative, and organized, as this position will require adaptability, strong writing and communication skills, and good time management. This is an entry-level position.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Program Manager in organizing on-site materials
Help update programs on the website
Curate and order all off-site program supplies
Produce all onsite program rosters and attendance sheets for teaching artists at the beginning of each session
Research and contact potential community partners for the Creative Communities Partnership Program
Research and contact potential partners for Arts Education Outreach Programs
Be the point of contact for all community partners (Creative Communities & Outreach)
Be the point of contact for all teaching artists for Creative Communities & Outreach
Assist both Program Manager & Executive Director in problem-solving, contract generation, and budgeting
Attend community engagement events as needed (occasional weeknight and weekend hours required)
Assist in planning and executing all community events (on and off-site)
Required Experience:
Associate or Bachelors Degree in education, art, or related field; or equivalent experience
1-2 years of professional experience, preferably at a non-profit organization or educational institution
Willingness to work weeknights and weekends as needed
Must have or be willing to acquire PA State Clearances (Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprints, Criminal Background Check) and completed Mandated Reporter training (Certification Required)
Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Preferred Skills:
Teaching experience in music, art, dance, or drama
Marketing/Design experience
Program Management experience
Event Planning experience
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems
Compensation:
This position is part-time with hours expected from 10-15 hours per week. The salary is $15,000 with three sick days. Salary is paid on a bi-weekly basis. Darlington's hours of operations are from Monday- Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm during the Academic Year. During the summer season our hours are Monday-Wednesday, 9 am to 9pm and Thursday- Friday 9am to 5pm.
