Cultural Alliance Member Taller Puertorriqueño is celebrating 50 incredible years of artistry, education, and community impact. Founded in 1974 and known as “El Corazón Cultural del Barrio,” Taller has worked to preserve, develop, and promote Puerto Rican arts and culture. As they mark this golden milestone, Taller Puertorriqueño is offering a lineup of 50th anniversary programming for 2024. Learn more.   • Opera Philadelphia will offer all tickets for $11 all season long, reports WHYY. “When it doesn’t cost $150 to have a prime seat at the opera — in fact, every ticket, from box to balcony from front row to last row, costs $11 or pick your price — that changes how we relate to opera,” said general director, Anthony Roth Costanzo. “Who sits in those seats? That changes the stories we can tell.” Read more.

Coming soon: the Philadelphia Arts & Culture Social Impact Database. Thanks to support provided by AARP, the Cultural Alliance will survey arts and culture organizations across Philadelphia to develop a digital database of social impact programming offered by cultural organizations, sortable by topic and City Council District. The database will highlight programs happening in the calendar year 2024. To thank organizations for participating, the Cultural Alliance is offering the first 75 organizations to participate in the survey a $50 gift card. The survey will launch on Tuesday, September 10. Learn more

The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance is proud to host Cultural Dynamics: Co-Creating a Vision for Philadelphia, a groundbreaking convening featuring Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD, Chair, National Endowment for the Arts on November 19. Cultural Dynamics will unite artists, nonprofit leaders, funders, and elected officials to explore strategies that integrate arts and culture into transformative civic decision-making. We invite the public to join us for a livestream of this important conversation and a series of community-based meetings that will follow. Register for the livestream.

PA CultureCheck is a study that identifies key trends in Pennsylvania’s cultural, arts, and humanities organizations like post-pandemic recovery and regrowth, operations, attendance, and the ways organizations are engaging with their communities. PA CultureCheck is a collaboration by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, PA Humanities, and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council. Learn more and complete the survey by September 13.

Arts & Culture by the Numbers

The latest Arts, Culture & Economic Prosperity study reports that the jobs created by the arts and culture industry in Greater Philadelphia returns $1.4 billion to our communities as household income. While a good amount of this income is generated where arts and culture institutions are located and where their audiences spend money, this income ends up in the bank accounts of residents across the region. Read the full report on our website
