On Wednesday, April 9th, the Pennsylvania Senate passed budget bill SB 1466 by a vote of 39-8. This bill proposes level funding for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, with $8.179 million allocated for grants to arts organizations and $886,000 for administration.

On Monday May 7th, Cultural Alliance President Tom Kaiden delivered budget testimony on the importance of arts and culture before Philadelphia's City Council. He made the case that the partnership between the civic leaders and the cultural community has been "crucial to Philadelphia’s renaissance, helping to lift our city from the brink of bankruptcy in the early 1990s. And today, as we cope with one of the most prolonged recessions in our nation’s history, arts and culture are at the heart of the city’s planning initiatives and economy."

Learn how to read the financial reports in an audit, see how internal financial reports create a picture and become comfortable reviewing budgets.

The Nonprofit Technology Network is seeking arts and cultural organizations to participate in the next session of the Technology Leadership Academy (TLA). The TLA brings together executive leadership and technology-oriented staff in a group online learning environment and is a unique opportunity to learn and interact with your peers while creating a tight network of arts leaders working towards a common mission: using technology to create greater impact. Thanks to the support of Google and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the TLA is free for participating organizations. Applications are due June 8 for the next cohort which begins on July 17th.
