The 2019 Bloomberg Arts Internship officially kicked off this year on Monday, June 24! Now in its fifth year, the internship exposes Philadelphia’s young people to the arts through meaningful and sustained engagements with organizations across the city. This summer, 50 Philadelphia high school seniors will spend eight transformative weeks immersed in Philadelphia’s rich arts and culture.

Twenty-five incredible organizations have partnered as worksites this year, including a dozen new worksite partners like Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, Carpenter’s Hall, PhillyCAM, Spiral Q Puppet Theater and Fleisher Art Memorial. In addition to their time spent in the internship positions, the cohort will also visit many of Philadelphia’s flagship arts institutions to experience their collections first hand and hear directly from professionals in the field about what it takes to keep Philly’s arts and culture scene strong and vibrant.

Cultural site visit locations this year will include the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Barnes Foundation, the Franklin Institute, the Free Library, the National Museum of American Jewish History, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Through the Bloomberg Arts Internship, the Cultural Alliance is endeavouring to build audiences, advocates and cultural workforce of tomorrow

As a first for this year, all Bloomberg interns will be developing internship projects over the summer.
