Reporting to Penn Live Arts’ Lighting Supervisor, this position functions primarily as a lighting specialist but will be called upon as a general stage technician or venue supervisor as needs warrant. As a lighting specialist, this role is responsible for assisting in coordinating, installing, and operating all production lighting requirements and management and maintenance of all lighting equipment in Penn Live Arts’ inventory. As a general stage technician, this role will participate in the installation, maintenance, operation, dismantling and removing of all equipment required for the presentation of performances and special events managed by PLA or in PLA venues. The position requires presence at all periods of a production/event from load-in to set-up through rehearsal, performance and strike, including significant evening & weekend hours.
Job Responsibilities
Work collaboratively at the direction of the Lighting Supervisor to enact all performance & event lighting requirements at PLA events and in PLA venues.
Interpret lighting plots and paperwork and assemble necessary equipment as required.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of Penn Live Arts lighting equipment.
Work independently as needed to enact event & performance lighting designs on house rep plots.
Work collaboratively with IATSE 8 Department Heads & Stagehands on applicable events to ensure timely implementation within PLA’s safety and customer service standards.
Provide instruction and training to technical staff and students regarding the safe and proper operation of PLA’s lighting equipment.
Install, operate and dismantle equipment for performances and special events managed by PLA or in PLA venues
Function as technical staff facilitator for performances and special events.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Associates of Arts, and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Preferred BA or BFA in Technical Theater or equivalent experience.
High proficiency with ETC Eos family consoles, DMX & lighting network protocols, RDM, Intelligent Lighting, USITT standards.
Collaborative teammate comfortable with leading a crew or being a crew member under other's leadership.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Experience working in an IATSE Venue.
Experience in basic theatrical stagehand and audiovisual practices.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Lightwright, and QLab.
