STAMP Launches Teen Internship Program with WorkReady, Bloomberg Philanthropies

In partnership with the WorkReady summer internship program, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance's STAMP teen program has received a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to connect 25 rising high school juniors with summer job opportunities at 16 arts and culture institutions.

Philadelphia—On Thursday, June 11, GroundSwell (a program of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance) and Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) will organize a group of public school students in demonstrations at City Hall, asking City Council members to commit to $105 million for schools and arts education in the FY2016 City budget.

PA Arts & Culture Legislative Visits Day

On Tuesday, May 12, GroundSwell will join Citizens for the Arts in Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Arts Education Network for PA Arts & Cultural Legislative Visits Day. We will take 50 advocates from Southeastern Pennsylvania to Harrisburg to meet with their elected officials and discuss the importance of arts education in the Commonwealth. It's election season and we're bringing you the mayoral candidates on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 5:45 -7:30pm in the Montgomery Auditorium at the Central Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia. The candidates will address the role parks and arts play in the City of Philadelphia and how our sectors enhance the economy, environment and the quality of life of our residents. Registration for the event will open up at 5pm.

Help PCCY Take 'School Play' on the Road

School Play is a theatre piece aimed at raising awareness about the urgency of addressing Pennsylvania's public education system. GroundSwell is partnering with PCCY to help them meet their goal of having performances in each of Pennsylvania's 67 counties during the state budget process this spring. The piece can be performed in whole or in part, by community groups, professional troupes, friends, neighbors, and anyone in between.
